A pothole isn't really a surface problem — by the time asphalt has broken through to bare ground, water has usually already compromised the base underneath. A patch that only fills the hole with cold mix and calls it done tends to fail again within a season, because the underlying problem was never fixed.
We patch potholes full-depth: cut out the damaged area to solid material, rebuild the base if it's compromised, and pave back with properly compacted hot-mix asphalt. It takes longer than a quick fill, but it's the difference between a patch that lasts a few months and one that lasts years.
Assess & Mark
The full extent of the damage is identified, including any soft or compromised base beyond the visible hole.
Saw Cut & Removal
The damaged asphalt is cut to a clean edge and removed, rather than just filling around it.
Base Repair
Compromised sub-base material is removed and replaced with properly compacted aggregate.
Tack Coat
A bonding layer is applied so the new patch bonds to the surrounding asphalt instead of separating at the seam.
Hot-Mix Patch & Compaction
Fresh asphalt is placed and compacted to match the surrounding grade and density.
